**General Summary/Purpose** :

The Johns Hopkins Center for Population Health IT (CPHIT) and the Johns Hopkins ACG? research and development team, is seeking a motivated, independent individual with experience in data management and analytics to join our team.

The analyst will provide support to the team through data management, analytic variable creation, and other analytic work as needed. Specific tasks may include developing analytic data sets for specific research projects, overseeing database development including infrastructure and architectural components, managing and analyzing databases. The programmer analyst will assist in maintaining current database environments including a SQL database. Analyst will work closely with both CPHIT and ACG teams and their work related to the application of health IT and electronic data sources to population health. CPHIT collaborates closely with other departments at the Schools of Public Health, Medicine and Nursing on the Medical campus, as well as the Department of Computer Science on JHUs Arts & Science/Engineering campus. CPHIT also collaborates closely with the Johns Hopkins Health Systems and several leading integrated delivery systems and government health agencies.


+ Provide database support in SQL or other relational databases beyond Access

+ Assist in the development of claims, EHR, and/or geosocial database

+ Assist in programming and developing analytic datasets with researchers

+ Work with researchers to conduct analysis and develop reports

+ Assist in managing data security and privacy protocols

+ Other duties as assigned

**Minimum qualifications (mandatory):**

Bachelor's degree. One (1) year related experience. Direct programming experience while pursuing education may count towards related experience. Significant undergraduate programming coursework or independent project can be considered as related experience.

Master's degree with a major or minor in math, engineering, informatics, statistics, computer science or other relevant fields preferred. Must have good written skills and be fluent in English. Knowledge and experience using electronic health data, administrative claims data and/or geosocial databases is preferred.

**Special knowledge, skills, and abilities:**


+ Knowledge of SQL or other relational database other than Access

+ Some experience programming in a higher level language (PHP, Python, Perl, etc)

+ Some experience with a statistic package (SAS, STATA, R, etc)

+ Experience performing ETL processes (extract, transform, load)


+ Some experience with EHRs as a clinical user a plus but not required.

+ Some experience with report creation and cost analysis

+ Knowledge in ArcGIS and other spatial analysis or;

+ Knowledge in Machine Learning

This may include documentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicella vaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratory testing. Blood tests for immunities to these diseases are ordinarily included in the pre-employment physical exam except for those employees who provide results of blood tests or immunization documentation from their own health care providers. Any vaccinations required for these diseases will be given at no cost in our Occupational Health office.
